What are the best movies of all time? One of the best films I’ve watched is The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964) directed by Anthony Mann.

My reply:
That’s pretty fractured Roman history. You can’t learn history via movies, you have to do it the old fashioned way by reading.
[[The Roman Empire was believed to be eternal, but through the corruption of its leaders, peoples and the collapse of Roman culture, the empire was swept away in decadence, dancing and destruction. The greatest empire that existed in the world up until the 1800s was obliterated by its own hand.]]
Duh, it was the Antonine Plague of 165–180 that did in the Roman Empire, not Commodus. The barbarians just finished off a sick old man. Rome collapsed in 476 and Commodus died way before that on New Year’s Eve 192.
